What's included in the library?

What is ReUI and what should I use it for?

ReUI is a premium component library and registry built on top of shadcn/ui for React + Tailwind projects. The free tier extends the standard shadcn library with custom primitives (Data Grid, Event Calendar, Gantt, Kanban, Filters, and more) that cover patterns shadcn doesn't ship. Paid tiers add hundreds of production-ready blocks, animated icons, and full-page templates. Use ReUI when you want to ship faster without rebuilding the same screens (auth flows, dashboards, settings, billing, marketing pages) from scratch.

Is ReUI an alternative to Tailwind Plus?

For React projects, yes: ReUI matches most of the Tailwind Plus Application UI categories and many of its ecommerce sections, with 1,149 free components and Pro blocks for shadcn/ui. Tailwind Labs announced on September 9, 2026 that it is closing sign ups for new Tailwind Plus customers. The Tailwind Plus alternative page has the category-by-category map, including the gaps.

What's the difference between shadcn blocks and components?

Components are single, reusable UI pieces like Button, Card, and Dialog. Blocks are full sections or screens (dashboards, auth flows, pricing pages) assembled from those components and ReUI primitives, so you drop in a whole layout instead of wiring pieces together. The free shadcn components ship for everyone; the production-ready blocks are part of the paid tiers.

What are "ReUI custom primitives" and how do they differ from shadcn/ui?

Headless React + Tailwind components that extend shadcn/ui with features the upstream set doesn't ship: Data Grid (sortable, filterable, paginated table on TanStack Table), Filters (composable search bar with chips and facets), Alert (severity + dismiss), Badge (more variants), Kanban (dnd-kit drag-and-drop), plus Stepper, Tree, Autocomplete, Phone Input, Number Field, Date Selector, Rating, Timeline, Scrollspy, Sortable, Icon Stack, and Frame. All free, themable via your stock shadcn CSS variables.

Can I see the code before I buy?

For free items, yes: the 1,149 shadcn components and 22 ReUI primitives show their full source with no account. Pro blocks give you the full live preview, responsive, dark-mode-toggleable and theme-customizable, so you can confirm one fits your design before buying. Their source code, registry command, and install are what the license unlocks.

How do I install shadcn blocks and components?

Via the shadcn CLI, on a project that already has shadcn/ui initialized. Each page shows the exact command, for example: pnpm dlx shadcn@latest add @reui/auth-1. ReUI items take the @reui/ prefix, while stock shadcn/ui components keep their bare name (pnpm dlx shadcn@latest add button). Templates are the exception: you download them from their page instead. The CLI copies the source into your project's components directory. Works with Next.js, Vite, Remix, Astro, and TanStack Start.

Can I modify the components after installing?

Completely. The CLI copies the source files into your project, same as stock shadcn/ui, so the code lives in your repo and you can edit it freely. Edit styles, swap icons, rewrite logic, refactor structure. No runtime dependency on ReUI, no version lock-in.

Are the free shadcn components really free to use?

Yes. All 1,149 shadcn components and 22 ReUI custom primitives are free forever, under the MIT License, with no purchase or account needed, and you install them with the shadcn CLI just like the official shadcn/ui set. Commercial and open-source use are both fine; only the premium blocks, icons, and paid templates need a license, and templates marked Free need only a free account, under the License on Personal terms rather than MIT.

Does ReUI support dark mode and theme customization?

Yes. Every component reads from your shadcn theme tokens (--background, --foreground, --primary, --radius, font family). Dark mode flips automatically when your app toggles the .dark class (next-themes, useTheme, etc.). The site demos this with a runtime theme picker so you can preview any block in any color scheme before installing.

What is the Free shadcn/ui Figma Design System by ReUI for?

It is a free, 1:1 aligned Figma starter for the shadcn/ui ecosystem, created as ReUI's contribution to the community. It helps teams design with components, variables, slots, and examples that follow shadcn/ui patterns while keeping Tailwind structure in mind. Built with input from ReUI's creator and designer, it provides a solid foundation for component systems and ongoing shadcn/ui updates.

Are the components accessible (a11y / WCAG)?

Yes. Interactive primitives are built on Radix UI under the hood, which ships WAI-ARIA roles, keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen-reader announcements out of the box. Custom primitives (Data Grid, Filters, Kanban, etc.) follow the same patterns. Marketing and content blocks use semantic HTML with proper landmark roles and labels.

Does ReUI work with AI coding agents like Codex, Claude, Cursor, OpenCode, Copilot and others?

Yes. Every block preview has a "Copy AI prompt" action in the toolbar that bundles the block's usage notes, registry setup, and install command into a single LLM-friendly markdown payload (installing a Pro block still needs your license key). Paste it into Codex, Claude, Cursor, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot Workspace, v0, Lovable, or any chat model and the agent has everything it needs to scaffold your screen from the block.

How do I get updates and support?

Re-run the install command to pull the latest version of any block. New blocks just appear in the registry, install them when you want them. Support: community Discord for free users, email support for paid customers with a response time set by your license type (48 business hours on Personal and Team, 12 on Growth and Enterprise), the same on Pro and Ultimate.
